Imgix: AI-Accelerated Design
Aligned shipped a tested dashboard redesign for Imgix in seven weeks using AI-accelerated workflows, and found a second product opportunity that the original brief hadn't scoped.
Imgix has powered image optimization and delivery for developers since 2011. Today, their team is in the middle of a major product evolution, working against the limits of a mature codebase. They brought Aligned in to move faster while holding the quality bar that their developer audience is used to.
Over seven weeks, Aligned delivered a tested dashboard redesign, a second round of prototypes segmented by user type, and a validated case for a new reporting and analytics work stream — identified, scoped, and kicked off by a single designer in parallel with the original engagement.

“Aligned has changed how we think about bringing in external teams to supplement our work. They've elegantly both plugged into our existing infrastructure and process while also helping us to evolve, try new strategies, and experiment with both process and product.”

Scaling Impact
Starting with organic intelligence: The team sketched on paper before opening any tools
Users were getting lost in Imgix's existing dashboard. Aligned opened the engagement with a collaborative design studio: analog Crazy Eights sketching to align stakeholders and put a wide range of ideas on the table in one working session. The sketches then went from paper into Figma Make, which produced a full set of digital prototypes and flows within a week.
Keeping ideation offline meant stakeholders built shared conviction before anything got locked into pixels.
Testing with real users without touching code
Rather than building a separate test environment, Aligned dropped a lightweight modal into the existing dashboard, inviting users into a clickable prototype. Over two weeks, the modal drew 1,413 unique impressions and 190 click responses — a 13.45% conversion rate — without a single engineering ticket filed.
Claude then synthesized the PostHog data, clustering clicks into behavioral patterns and pointing toward a second round of prototypes segmented by existing versus new customers. A synthesis pass that typically takes a week of manual tagging wrapped up in an afternoon.

Designers' shipping code: Final designs moved straight to pull requests instead of tickets
With Claude Code and Figma's MCP integration, Aligned's designer built production frontend components, updated legacy design patterns to match Imgix's new design system, and handed engineers reviewable PRs—no spec documents in the middle.
Conflicts with legacy code surfaced during design instead of during QA, so engineering reviewed working pull requests rather than debugging ambiguous mockups. The maintenance-level design work — pattern updates and small cleanups — also progressed quickly enough to clear the way for larger product questions.
Following the data to what’s next!
During synthesis, a pattern appeared in the data that the original scope hadn't planned for: existing customers wanted better reporting and analytics visibility. The designer used Claude to pull together Gong call recordings, internal product backlog items, and the live test results, built a case for a new work stream, and got it moving — without taking any resources off the dashboard redesign.
One designer, working with AI, delivered what would normally require a separate discovery engagement.
